It is the best script I have read in decades,\u201d Diesel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DbfWp6VhZEG\/?igsh=MXN1OWd6OXRyNWw0cg%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI am still crying\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe post was shared alongside a trailer for the upcoming re-release of the original \u201cThe Fast and the Furious\u201d film, which is coming back to theaters on Aug. 21 in time for its 25th anniversary. That film starred Diesel alongside the late Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Rick Yue and Chad Lindberg, kicking off the long-running action franchise after grossing $207 million worldwide (not adjusted for inflation).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn his Instagram post, Diesel also teased that \u201cFast Forever\u201d will have a tie to the original film: \u201cYou will thank God you got to see the First one in the theaters this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cFast Forever\u201d is the latest film in the action franchise after \u201cFast X,\u201d which was released in May 2023 and grossed $704 million worldwide. It left things off on a big cliffhanger, teasing Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson\u2019s returns with two post-credit scenes. \u201cFast Forever\u201d will be directed by Louis Leterrier, known for \u201cThe Transporter\u201d and \u201cThe Incredible Hulk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tLesslie was announced to be writing the script <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/fast-forever-michael-lesslie-screenwriter-hunger-games-1236694603\/\">back in March<\/a>. Sources told <em>Variety<\/em> that he rewrote a script previously penned by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean. Lesslie has written \u201cThe Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,\u201d \u201cMacbeth,\u201d \u201cAssassin\u2019s Creed,\u201d \u201cNow You See Me: Now You Don\u2019t\u201d and \u201cHamlet\u201d starring Riz Ahmed.
