Keep your eyes peeled, there are some exciting things in the works.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They have not revealed whether their plans involve\u00a0new music, live\u00a0performances\u00a0or archive re-releases,\u00a0but it would\u00a0represent\u00a0their first significant action since\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevinylfactory.com\/news\/elastica-debut-album-vinyl-reissue\">they released the remastered version of their classic self-titled debut album for Record Store Day 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbdpScsjRrm\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Elastica\u00a0were\u00a0formed by guitarist and singer Justine Frischmann and drummer Justin Welch in 1992 after their departure from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/suede\">Suede<\/a>, joined in the original line-up by guitarist Donna Matthews and bassist Annie Holland.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/nme-awards\/awards-history\/1994-606162\">winning the Best New Band prize at the 1994 <em>NME<\/em> Awards<\/a>, their debut album became one of the defining releases of the Britpop era, topping the UK Albums Chart and including the singles \u2018Connection\u2019, \u2018Line Up\u2019 and \u2018Stutter\u2019.\u00a0It went on to be named as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/photos\/the-500-greatest-albums-of-all-time-100-1-1426116\">one of <em>NME\u2019s<\/em> 500 Greatest Albums of All Time<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After a turbulent five-year wait, Elastica returned with their second and final album \u2018The Menace\u2019 in 2000, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/elastica-2-1378690\">Frischmann confirming that the group had split the following year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/elastica-reunite-return-studio-1956368\">Reunion\u00a0rumours\u00a0were sparked in January 2017 when Matthews, Holland and Welch were pictured together at Abbey Road Studios<\/a>, but it later\u00a0emerged\u00a0that they had been working on the remastered reissue of \u2018Elastica\u2019 that year.<\/p>\n<p>Frischmann\u00a0also revealed in 2017 that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/elastica-asked-reform-mias-meltdown-festival-2043732\">M.I.A. had asked the band to reunite for her Meltdown Festival in London<\/a>, and though she said she was \u201ctempted\u201d by the offer, the reunion did not end up taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/melissa-auf-der-maur-on-not-being-allowed-to-join-elastica-it-was-not-cool-i-had-to-say-no-3937433\">former Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur recalled being invited to join Elastica during the \u201990s<\/a>, after Holland experienced difficulties\u00a0with heroin withdrawal.
