to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dani agreed that <em>School Daze<\/em> made an impression on her as well but admitted her favorite Fishburne performance remains Furious Styles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI forgot how good he was in that,\u201d she says. \u201cI went back and watched, and especially now that we\u2019re getting the saxophones trend on TikTok, it\u2019s like the saxophones are getting louder.<br \/>It makes me think about that all the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the conversation continued, the panel shifted its attention to one of Fishburne\u2019s most surprising career statistics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite collecting six Emmy Awards and a Tony Award throughout his career, the acclaimed actor has received just one Academy Award nomination\u2014for his unforgettable portrayal of Ike Turner opposite Angela Bassett in <em>What\u2019s Love Got to Do with It<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group questioned why an actor with such an expansive body of work has never received additional Oscar recognition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs much as we hate Ike, for a minute Laurence couldn\u2019t get right with me because I was just like, \u2018You are Ike Turner,&#8217;\u201d Serita says. \u201cHe played the hell out of that role. You absolutely hated him in that movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard recalled hearing stories about the emotional aftermath of filming one of the movie\u2019s most difficult scenes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen the director yelled cut, people wouldn\u2019t talk to him for like two days,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While everyone agreed Fishburne deserved the nomination, the panel argued several of his other performances\u2014including <em>Othello<\/em>, <em>The Matrix<\/em> and <em>Boyz n the Hood<\/em>\u2014were equally deserving of Academy recognition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe was incredible as Morpheus,\u201d Serita says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery character he plays, he is that character,\u201d she adds. \u201cHe is Furious.
