He will drive breaking news coverage, analysis, investigative reporting, stories from the film festival circuit and chronicles of Hollywood culture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBased in Los Angeles, Donnelly assumes the position on August 17. His predecessor, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/brent-lang\/\" id=\"auto-tag_brent-lang\" data-tag=\"brent-lang\">Brent Lang<\/a>, will be leaving <em>Variety<\/em> to become editor-in-chief of IndieWire. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<em>Variety<\/em> hired Donnelly in 2018 as a senior film writer.
