The alleged victim defended herself by punching him in the face.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>abc.net.au<\/em>, the man is now behind bars but will return to court to appeal the verdict before his sentencing hearing. His lawyer, Dermot Dann KC, told the judge Frank Gucciardo that his client suffered a \u201cgross miscarriage of justice\u201d and appealed for a delay in sentencing, while calling the woman\u2019s version of events \u201cfiction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The publication also explained that a gag order prevented them from disclosing the identity of the defendant. It was initially put in place in 2023 after his psychiatrist argued that his physical safety and mental health would be in \u201cdanger\u201d if his name was revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Following July 28\u2019s guilty verdict, the gag order was temporarily extended, the status of which will be further determined on Monday after the psychiatrist appears before the court to provide evidence. The order also prevents the press from reporting the man\u2019s connection to any individual or industry.<\/p>\n<p>Dermot Dan KC later told reporters outside the court:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHe has instructed us to appeal, but we have to go through this next process of the plea and the sentence.
