Total group revenue stayed steady at \u00a31.9 billion ($2.5 billion).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThese are the first results published since it was revealed ITV are <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/news\/sky-itv-media-entertainment-sale-1236802209\/\">selling their media and entertainment arm<\/a> to Comcast-owned Sky. Production outfit ITV Studios will be spun off as an independent listed company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tITV\u2019s group adjusted EBITA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, and Amortization) also held steady at \u00a3145 million, marginally up (by 2%) from \u00a3142 million in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThat figure is still a significant drop from the \u00a3212 million reported in the first six months of 2024. At the time, ITV put this down to the Euros soccer tournament delivering a massive boost, but it doesn\u2019t appear the World Cup has had a similar impact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe disparity could be because of the variation in the England soccer team\u2019s performance across the two tournaments: while they made it through to the finals of the Euros, sustaining and building interest throughout the tournament, the team were knocked out of the World Cup in the quarter finals, which led to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/tv\/global\/world-cup-ratings-show-final-big-draw-home-teams-beaten-1236816547\/\">a drop in viewing figures<\/a> in the U.K.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tStill, ITV said its total advertising revenue grew by 8% year-on-year, which they put down to the World Cup, saying it had attracted \u201cstrong advertising and sponsorship demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe news at ITV Studios was less sunny, particularly given the company is set to be spun-off, making it an acquisition target. Total revenue again held steady with a 2% uplift but EBITA dropped by 9% to \u00a397 million from last year\u2019s \u00a3107 million (itself a 20% drop on the previous year). That\u2019s despite a number of high-profile titles including \u201cLove Island, \u201cRivals\u201d for Disney+ and \u201cThe Gentlemen\u201d for Netflix. ITV said the figure was due to the \u201cphasing of deliveries,\u201d a number of which were backloaded to the second half of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut the media conglomerate admitted that the first half of 2025 saw a number of \u201clarge deliveries to streaming platforms\u201d \u2013 including \u201cOne Piece\u201d and \u201cThe Better Sister\u201d \u2013 which were \u201cnot repeated to the same scale\u201d in the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOne of ITV\u2019s success stories is its streaming platform ITVX \u2013 believed to be the main driver of the Sky acquisition \u2013 which continued to deliver record viewing, growing by 27% in the first half the year. Advertising revenue also rose by 13% year-on-year although it took a \u00a320 million ($26 million) hit from the introduction of the government\u2019s regulations on junk food commercials, which were introduced in Oct. 2025. ITV said it is working \u201cclosely with advertisers to mitigate the impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tITV also warned that advertising is like to drop by 5% in the next quarter, \u201creflecting the current macroeconomic headwinds\u201d meaning that by the nine-months mark results will be flat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cITV delivered a solid H1 performance and we remain on track to deliver our full-year guidance, including good revenue growth in ITV Studios and strong, profitable digital revenue growth within Media &amp; Entertainment,\u201d said CEO Carolyn McCall in a statement. \u201cMacro-economic headwinds remain, but we are focused on the performance of both businesses, with continued momentum, disciplined execution of our strategic priorities and a strong second half delivery schedule in ITV Studios.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMeanwhile shareholders were granted a windfall with McCall announcing an interim dividend of 1.7p as well as a \u00a3100 million share buyback.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMcCall also confirmed the regulatory process is underway on the Sky\/ITV acquisition and the culture minister is expected to watch it closely.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ITV has unveiled \u201csolid\u201d if underwhelming results for the first half of 2026, with a 2% uplift across its major profit centers.
