Unified students.<\/p>\n<p>Brown declined to comment when asked about the status of Mayor Karen Bass\u2019 order to remove  food waste and debris within 45 days, but emphasized that officials are moving quickly to hold Lineage responsible.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2026-07-27\/public-health-survey-documents-stench-in-boyle-heights\"><u>Lineage has racked up fines<\/u><\/a> from both the Los Angeles County health department and the South Coast Air Quality Management District over the last several weeks as residents file complaints over ongoing odor issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that the Boyle Heights and East L.A. communities have been underserved and have a history of environmental impact,\u201d Brown said. \u201cWe have a huge responsibility to stabilize the households, businesses, and the communities within the impacted area, accelerate remediation and restore infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Lineage representatives <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2026-07-28\/lineage-files-permit-to-rebuild-boyle-heights-warehouse\">filed permits with the city<\/a> to rebuild the warehouse to its \u201cpre-fire condition,\u201d drawing swift condemnation from locals and Bass, who decried the application as \u201ca slap in the face\u201d to Boyle Heights families.<\/p>\n<p>The Emergency Management Department is expected to release <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/emergency.lacity.gov\/BHURC-Reports\" target=\"_blank\">a status report on neighborhood recovery<\/a> efforts Friday.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cleanup efforts at the Lineage cold-storage warehouse in Boyle Heights are nearing the halfway mark, six weeks after a fire at the depot left millions of pounds of rotting food to pollute the Los Angeles neighborhood.
