While Rebecca Ferguson has played quite a few memorable roles on the screen, her career presently seems to be defined by two major book adaptation franchises: <em>Silo<\/em> and <em>Dune<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><\/p>\n<p>While <em>Silo<\/em> played a key role in establishing her as one of television&#8217;s most compelling sci-fi leads, the Dune movies introduced her to an even wider global audience as Lady Jessica. However, a closer look at <em>Silo<\/em> and <em>Dune<\/em>&#8216;s new installments reveals how both are taking Ferguson&#8217;s roles in completely opposite directions.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Rebecca Ferguson reprises her role in the new installments of both franchises, her part in <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/dune-3-edric-role-hidden-trailer\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Dune: Part Three<\/em><\/a> is bound to leave many disappointed. During a press conference, Rebecca Ferguson even confirmed this by revealing that her part in the movie is limited to a single conversation that has already been featured in <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/dune-part-three-movie-trailer-warner-bros\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Dune: Part Three<\/em>&#8216;s trailer<\/a>. She said (via <a href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/dune-part-3-rebecca-ferguson-lady-jessica-update\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Collider<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMate, I\u2019ve got one scene, and I think you\u2019ve seen it. It\u2019s literally in the trailer, but I can\u2019t wait to see it. The script\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As underwhelming as her limited screen time in <em>Dune: Part Three <\/em>may seem, it makes sense since the movie adapts Frank Herbert\u2019s 1969 novel <em>Dune Messiah\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b<\/em>\u200b. In the book, Lady Jessica is not even present for the main events on Arrakis after she relocates back to Caladan. Early scripts did not even include her in the story, but director Denis Villeneuve eventually wrote one scene that features her.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, even according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/what-happened-in-silo-books-wool-spoilers\/\" target=\"_blank\">original <em>Silo<\/em> books<\/a>, Rebecca Ferguson&#8217;s character, Juliette, should not have had a big role in season 3. <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/silo-season-2-episode-10-ending-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Silo<\/em> season 2&#8217;s ending<\/a> aligns with that of the first book, Wool, in the original series. Owing to this, season 3 was expected to follow the second novel <em>Shift<\/em>&#8216;s story before season 4 adapted Hugh Howey&#8217;s <em>Dust<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The second book, <em>Shift<\/em>, unfolds more as a prequel\/spin-off that features a whole new set of characters and walks through the events that led to the development of the titular silos and the central apocalypse. Juliette on briefly appears towards the end of the book.<\/p>\n<p>In the show, however, Juliette&#8217;s arc has been significantly retconned to ensure she remains the primary focus. Since <em>Silo<\/em> season 1, viewers have grown accustomed to seeing Rebecca Ferguson as the lead while growing attached to many other main characters from the present timeline.<\/p>\n<p>If the show had taken the same approach as the books, it would have to spend an entire season without characters like Juliette, who made it so compelling in the first place. While Hugh Howey&#8217;s structural gamble paid off on the page, it likely would have alienated TV audiences by sidelining the series&#8217; most recognizable faces.<\/p>\n<p>Since Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet&#8217;s Paul has been the face of the <strong><em>Dune<\/em><\/strong> movie series since the beginning, Rebecca Ferguson&#8217;s absence from the upcoming movie is still acceptable.
