The Mumford &amp; Sons frontman said he can\u2019t play music in his home because of a rule set by his wife Carey Mulligan.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWe had this conversation the other day. We had a party at home. It was Carey\u2019s birthday, and someone came, and they were like, \u2018There\u2019s no music.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Yeah, we don\u2019t really play music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mumford shared that he can\u2019t let music play in the background; he ends up stopping everything to listen to the music. He said, \u201cI can\u2019t do background music because if music\u2019s on, I want to lean in and listen to it. And I can\u2019t switch that part of my brain off. So then Carey doesn\u2019t like having music in the house because I just stop having a conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u200bHe also shared the type of music he prefers, saying, \u201cI listen to probably mostly new music. And if I\u2019m on my own, that\u2019s when I listen to music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in a conversation with The Guardian, the singer also shared, \u201cWe have a rule in our house where we don\u2019t say hate,\u201d and he wants to leave his children with \u201ca spirit of generosity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/carey-mulligan-bans-music-home-despite-married-musician-marcus-mumford-12031118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">People<\/a>, the couple first met at a children\u2019s camp when they were young.
