{"id":22690,"date":"2026-07-31T03:36:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T22:36:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=22690"},"modified":"2026-07-31T03:36:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T22:36:06","slug":"kasie-hunt-debates-jim-jordans-logic-on-anti-weaponization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=22690","title":{"rendered":"Kasie Hunt Debates Jim Jordan&#8217;s Logic on Anti-Weaponization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-body\">\n<p>Rep. <strong>Jim Jordan<\/strong> (R-OH) didn\u2019t seem to understand why two Republican hold-out senators wanted attorney general nominee <strong>Todd Blanche<\/strong> to put in writing that the Trump \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund was well and truly dead.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, a federal judge struck down an agreement that granted the Trump family immunity from tax audits and would have created the massive $1.8 billion \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund for his supporters, in exchange for the president dropping his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u2019s <em>The Arena with Kasie Hunt<\/em>, Jordan said he just couldn\u2019t understand\u00a0 why senators <strong>John Cornyn<\/strong> (R-TX) and <strong>Thom Tillis<\/strong> (R-NC) were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/trump-ramps-up-pressure-on-blanche-confirmation-as-cornyn-fires-back\/\">demanding a written guarantee<\/a> that the deal be permanently declared dead \u2014 or else they\u2019ll vote \u201cno\u201d on Blanche\u2019s confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>Hunt asked if Jordan was \u201csupportive of that settlement?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, Todd said it\u2019s dead. I think he said that multiple times. So, I don\u2019t know what is going on in these negotiations. The guy who\u2019s going to be hopefully the next attorney general has said, \u2018This thing is finished.\u2019 So, I don\u2019t understand why they\u2019re\u00a0 \u2014\u201d Jordan argued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, but he won\u2019t put it in writing. Why won\u2019t he put it in writing?\u201d Hunt pressed.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>JORDAN:\u00a0 Well, if that if that\u2019s the agreement, then I don\u2019t know that he hasn\u2019t done that. All we know is what \u2014<\/p>\n<p>HUNT: Well, he told Congress that he wouldn\u2019t. He told a House committee that he wouldn\u2019t put it in writing.<\/p>\n<p>JORDAN:\u00a0 Well, I mean, he\u2019s the attorney general. He\u2019s the acting attorney general. He said it\u2019s dead. They\u2019re not going to do it. I don\u2019t know what else it takes.<\/p>\n<p>HUNT: Well, you\u2019re a lawyer! Would you actually not \u2014 I mean don\u2019t you\u00a0tell any clients you\u2019ve ever had, \u201cGet it in writing?\u201d Isn\u2019t that like, I don\u2019t know, \u201cLegal 101?\u201d I don\u2019t know,\u00a0 I\u2019m not a lawyer. Full disclosure.<\/p>\n<p>JORDAN: I\u2019m not a lawyer either. I went to law school, graduated, didn\u2019t take the bar exam. So I don\u2019t know. But what I do know is Todd Blanche \u2014<\/p>\n<p>HUNT: Did they not teach you this in law school?<\/p>\n<p>JORDAN: Well, you can get it in writing. I don\u2019t don\u2019t know that matter, and maybe that\u2019s part of the agreement.
