{"id":2265,"date":"2026-07-09T09:13:41","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T04:13:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=2265"},"modified":"2026-07-09T09:13:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T04:13:41","slug":"justin-baldoni-speaks-on-blake-lively-it-ends-with-us-legal-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=2265","title":{"rendered":"Justin Baldoni Speaks on Blake Lively, It Ends With Us Legal Battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"adp-vgallery-title\">\n<h2\/>\n<p>Dec. 31, 2024: Baldoni, Wayfarer &amp; Others Sue <em>The New York Times<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"segment-text-only\">\n<p>Baldoni, Wayfarer, Heath, Sarowitz, Nathan, TAG, Abel, RWA Communications, Wallace and Street Relations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1411484\/justin-baldoni-sues-nyt-for-s250-million-over-blake-lively-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filed a $250 million lawsuit<\/a> against <em>The New York Times<\/em>\u00a0Dec. 31. <\/p>\n<p>In the suit obtained by E!, <em>The New York Times<\/em> was accused of libel, false light invasion of privacy, promissory fraud and breach of implied-in-fact contract for its article about a retaliatory smear campaign the plaintiffs allegedly conducted against Lively after she voiced concerns about purported misconduct on set. <\/p>\n<p>Saying the report was &#8220;false&#8221; and based on Lively\u2019s CRD complaint, the plaintiffs denied the accusations and alleged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1411456\/blake-livelys-legal-complaint-against-justin-baldoni-includes-alleged-texts-about-smear-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">messages cited in the article<\/a> and complaint were taken out of context. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite its claim to have &#8216;reviewed these along with other documents[,]&#8217; the <em>Times<\/em> relied almost entirely on Lively\u2019s unverified and self-serving narrative,&#8221; the lawsuit said, &#8220;lifting it nearly verbatim while disregarding an abundance of evidence that contradicted her claims and exposed her true motives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They alleged &#8220;it was Lively, not Plaintiffs, who engaged in a calculated smear campaign.&#8221; She denied this.<\/p>\n<p><em>The New York Times<\/em> said it planned to &#8220;vigorously defend against the lawsuit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The role of an independent news organization is to follow the facts where they lead,&#8221; it stated to E!. &#8220;Our story was meticulously and responsibly reported.
