It took 7x Oscar winner <em>Oppenheimer <\/em>595 days to final at $330M, and that was with Imax re-releases. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<em>Odyssey <\/em>will play deep into August on Imax. Typically Warner Bros will own Imax for certain key features, however, for the upcoming Bad Robot Anne Hathaway-Ewan McGregor dinosaur movie, <em>The End of Oak Street, <\/em>on Aug. 14, they\u2019ll have to co-share with Odysseus. Again, in its upcoming third weekend, the expectation for <em>Odyssey <\/em>is that the floor is around $45M, which would be a remarkable hold at -50%. <em>Oppenheimer<\/em> in its third weekend against <em>Barbie <\/em>eased -38% with $29.1M and it should be no surprise for <em>Odyssey <\/em>to beat that percentile hold. While the conservative estimate is $195M, and the logical around $200M+, tracking service Greenlight Analytics (formerly the Quorum) sees this Sony\/Marvel Studios movie easily exceeding the previous installment, <em>Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em>\u2018s $260M domestic (remember, there\u2019s already $80M in presales for <em>Brand New Day <\/em>which technically exceeds <em>No Way Home<\/em>\u2018s $78M advance tickets before opening). This is based on increasing heat of awareness, intent to see and interest among the under 35 set that\u2019s pacing ahead of <em>Toy Story 5<\/em>. Rivals have the opening higher between $280M-$300M. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMeanwhile, Rentrak reports that the summer domestic B.O. is sitting at just north of $3B, \u201cThat puts the industry within striking distance of a summer season north of $4 billion,\u201d writes the firm\u2019s Head of Marketplace Trends Paul Dergarabedian. That means a rare $1B August for the North American marketplace which has only been achieved twice before in 2014 (when <em>Guardians of the Galaxy <\/em>first bowed) and 2016 (when David Ayer\u2019s <em>Suicide Squad <\/em>hit theaters). August 2024 came close when <em>Deadpool &amp; Wolverine <\/em>was in play, the entire month grossing more than $907M. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>TUESDAY UPDATE: <\/strong>It took Christopher Nolan\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/03\/oppenheimer-christopher-nolan-interview-oscars-backstage-cillian-murphy-news-1235853735\/\">multi-Oscar-winning<\/a> 2023 pic <em>Oppenheimer <\/em>595 days to final at just over $330M stateside, and it\u2019s taking the director\u2019s <em><strong>The Odyssey <\/strong><\/em>just 13 days to outstrip that result.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe filmmaker\u2019s feature take on Homer\u2019s epic poem hasn\u2019t eased one bit, with its second Monday charting $14.7M and Tuesday looking like $16M+ for what\u2019s bound to be a running total of $320.1M stateside.
