If anything, they\u2019ve only antagonized me, and I accept that. But I also accept if I don\u2019t say something, I think it\u2019s just going to be worse.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The author alleged that she left the set of <em>Children of Blood and Bone<\/em> \u201chyperventilating and sobbing\u201d and claimed she continues to be \u201cantagonized behind the scenes.\u201d Representatives for Adeyemi, Paramount and director Gina Prince-Bythewood did not immediately respond to Variety\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m not going to speak on what I endured to make it through the young adult trilogy, and I\u2019m not going to speak about everything that I also suffered through or endured to make the adaptation a reality,\u201d Adeyemi said. \u201cI\u2019m actually only going to speak about what happened after I left that set of my own film adaptation, hyperventilating and sobbing. There are many witnesses, so it\u2019s not really a secret. I came back to America and suffered such severe somatic pain and so many panic attacks. I knew it was so bad that I would never ever be able to watch this film, and I made peace with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She went on to explain that the release of the film\u2019s trailer earlier this week, coupled with what she described as ongoing issues behind the scenes, ultimately pushed her to speak out.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut as it is being marketed,\u201d Adeyemi continued, referencing the trailer which launched on Tuesday, \u201cAnd as I am still being antagonized behind the scenes, which is where I hoped all of this would stay, it\u2019s become apparent to me that reality needs to at least be made known, so that you guys can understand how this film, which I worked on to make it a little better for us to be alive, is also the worst thing I have ever had to live through.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this month, Adeyemi posted-and-deleted a TikTok that appeared to include a group chat featuring <em>Children of Blood and Bone<\/em> star Amandla Stenberg. According to the <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2026-07-29\/children-of-blood-bone-film-drama-tomi-adeyemi\">Los Angeles Times<\/a><\/em>, Adeyemi wrote, \u201cDo not ever use my name in an interview or video again. Do not text me. Do not call me\u201d before seemingly blocking the actress. Stenberg previously faced criticism from some fans over her casting as Princess Amari amid accusations of colorism.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stenberg addressed the controversy in a TikTok video last year that has since been removed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am four months into training for <em>Children of Blood and Bone<\/em> and I am getting my ass whooped,\u201d Stenberg previously said in a deleted TikTok video last year. \u201cI want everyone to know that this is important to me, and I think about it with every choice that I make. I would never navigate my career blindly, not thinking about my skin tone or the space I occupy. I would never go after a role I didn\u2019t feel was right for me. I want to see all skin tones represented in media. I know that colorism is an insidious system that relentlessly impacts every facet of entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite speculation surrounding a possible dispute with Stenberg, Adeyemi has not publicly disclosed what allegedly took place during production.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toward the end of her video, the author emphasized that she is trying to move on from the experience entirely.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t wish to speak on it anymore. I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s possible,\u201d Adeyemi said in the clip posted on Wednesday. \u201cI understand that I have a public presence, and that this is a global project. It\u2019s probably useless posting a video. I really don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t do things like this, but I also understand that being silent about it is making the pain a lot worse. And even though it feels awful to share this, it\u2019s better to share it and have it known and understood before I see a bunch of you for this new book. So please understand, I never want to hear about this project again. I don\u2019t have anything to say about the people who made it. I do not care anymore. I\u2019m trying to move on. This video might make it worse, but I don\u2019t know how it can be any worse.
