But this month, the DOJ launched the process against Zada, a 47-year-old woman based in Fort Worth, Texas.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"ad-backstage-wrap\" class=\"ad-wrap backstage\" aria-label=\"advertisement\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/afghan-national-sentenced-serve-15-years-federal-prison-after-plotting-election-day-terror\" target=\"_blank\">already brought<\/a> criminal charges against her son and son-in-law for trying to attack the 2024 elections on behalf of the Islamic State, a terror organization. Both men were sentenced to time in prison and will be deported after serving their sentences.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The allegations in this case show the matriarch of an ISIS-sympathizing family aiding in a plot to launch a mass casualty attack on American voters on Election Day,&#8221; acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement. &#8220;The Department&#8217;s application in this court makes clear that terrorists have no place in the United States of America.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Judge Joan Ericksen, the chief judge of the Alien Terrorist Removal Court, will preside over the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A banner of an image of President Trump is displayed on the facade of the U.S. Department of Justice headquarters in Washington, D.C., in February 2026.
