The NBC series ended in 2010 after four seasons, and over a decade and a half later, <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/heroes-netflix-us-return-july-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Heroes<\/em> is now available to watch on Netflix<\/a>. However, plans to reboot the show (again) have reportedly fallen through.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/mattmitovich.ghost.io\/heroes-eclipsed-reboot-status-tim-kring\/?ref=matts-inside-line-newsletter\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Matt\u2019s Inside Line<\/em><\/a>, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/heroes-sequel-series-in-development-9-years-after-divisive-reborn-seasons\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Heroes: Eclipsed<\/em> being announced two years ago<\/a>, the reboot is <em>\u201cnot active now.\u201d<\/em> No further details were provided, including whether this is a temporary pause or if the project has been completely shelved. Either way, this is an unfortunate update for <em>Heroes<\/em> fans with just a few months to go until the 20th anniversary of when the original show premiered on NBC.<\/p>\n<p>Few <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/heroes-eclipsed-confirmation-updates\/\" target=\"_blank\">details were revealed about <em>Heroes: Eclipsed<\/em><\/a>, which Tim Kring, the creator of the original show, was developing. Though the reboot was expected to focus on a new generation of powered individuals, it was also teased that established <em>Heroes<\/em> characters could return as well. It was also never clarified whether <em>Eclipsed<\/em> was intended to also air on NBC, or if it would be set up on a streaming service, like Peacock.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heroes<\/em> season 1 earned critical acclaim, and its many accolades included Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Drama and Best Supporting Actor in a TV series, the latter honor going to Masi Oka for his portrayal of the time-traveling Hiro Nakamura. However, the other three seasons weren\u2019t received nearly as well, and viewership numbers steadily declined. NBC canceled <em>Heroes<\/em> after season 4, and the final episode ended with Hayden Panettiere\u2019s Claire Bennet revealing the existence of powered people to the world.<\/p>\n<p> Had <em>Heroes: Eclipsed<\/em> moved forward, it would have been the property\u2019s second reboot. <em>Heroes Reborn<\/em> premiered on NBC in 2015, with the storyline taking place one year after a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas that the United States government blamed on powered people, now labeled as \u201cevos.\u201d In addition to featuring newcomers like Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, and Danika Yarosh, <em>Reborn<\/em> also brought back Oka, Jack Coleman, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Christine Rose, Greg Grunberg, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Noah Gray-Cabey to reprise their <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/heroes-show-main-characters-powers-abilities-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\">respective <em>Heroes<\/em> roles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to <em>Heroes<\/em>\u2019 latter three seasons, <em>Heroes Reborn<\/em> (which was accompanied by the web series <em>Dark Matters<\/em> and <em>Damen Peak<\/em>) earned mixed critical reception. As a result, despite the show being classified as a miniseries ahead of its premiere, NBC announced in January 2016 that it would not return for season 2. <em>Reborn<\/em> also ended with its own loose end, as Rose\u2019s Angela Petrelli informed her great-grandchildren, Kay\u2019s Nathan and Yarosh\u2019s Malina, that their sinister-sounding biological father was coming.<\/p>\n<p>With <em>Heroes: Eclipsed<\/em> reportedly no longer moving forward, only time will tell if there will eventually be another attempt to revive the <strong><em>Heroes<\/em><\/strong> mythology. For now, as mentioned earlier, Netflix houses the original show\u2019s four seasons as of the beginning of this month.
