The eight-song LP contains vocals recorded by late singer <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/chris-cornell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Cornell<\/a>\u00a0before his 2017 passing.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron discussed the album\u2019s status with Dean Delray on the <em>Let There Be Talk<\/em> podcast, noting that it\u2019s being mixed by Joe Barresi, who did the same for the band\u2019s last album, 2012\u2019s <em>King Animal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/store.consequence.net\/collections\/vinyl-records\/?sort_by=title-ascending&amp;filter.p.tag=Soundgarden\" class=\"button button-ticket\" target=\"_blank\">Get Soundgarden Albums on Vinyl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, we don\u2019t really have a [release] date yet,\u201d said Cameron (as transcribed by <a href=\"https:\/\/blabbermouth.net\/news\/soundgarden-begins-mixing-final-eight-song-album-thats-all-there-is-with-vocals-says-matt-cameron\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Blabbermouth<\/a>). \u201cWe\u2019re just gonna try to get this thing mixed, get it over the finish line, and then hopefully we\u2019ll have a better idea what\u2019s gonna come next. We\u2019re just taking it one step at a time \u2019cause it\u2019s been kind of a long process just to get to here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the number of tracks expected for the release, Cameron responded, \u201cEight songs. I think that that\u2019s pretty much all there is with vocals. We had some instrumentals left over that [guitarist] Kim [Thayil] wants work on. So maybe we\u2019ll do some new stuff together, which would be fine by me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This follows previous updates on the long-gestating album, with Cameron breaking down the progress over the past decade-plus. \u201cWe\u2019d been sending demos back and forth since, like, 2013, \u201914, something like that,\u201d the drummer told Delray. \u201cI would send Chris some stuff. He would rearrange it, make a song out of it\u2026 I sent him three tracks, and then he would sing on top of the instrumentals that I\u2019d written and rearrange them and everything. And then we started getting together in, like, 2015, \u201916 at a couple of different studios, so we were preparing to make another album before that last tour in 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cWe recorded all the rehearsals and everything. And we did start writing a bunch of stuff together. But the stuff we\u2019re working on now was from when\u2026 We are using some of the live rehearsal stuff, like some of the guitar stuff that Chris played guitar on, and then we\u2019re using the vocals from these demos that he put together, with the music that we had written together. And, yeah, just kind of building on top of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Late last year, Soundgarden revealed that they were <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/11\/soundgarden-pretty-close-finishing-final-album\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">finishing the recording proces<\/a>s with producer Terry Date, who previously worked on <em>Louder Than Love<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Badmotorfinger<\/em>.
