He was 56.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u201cWith broken hearts we announce the passing of Glen Hansard who passed away, in the early hours of this morning, following a road traffic accident in Dublin,\u201d Hansard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbYIWf0x4h-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\">management said in a July 29 statement<\/a>. \u201cGlen\u2019s family is deeply shocked and heartbroken by this tragic loss and respectfully requests privacy at this extremely difficult time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">The family of the <\/span><strong>Frames<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight:400\"> frontman\u2014which includes his wife <\/span><strong>Maire Saaritsa <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight:400\">and 3-year-old son <\/span><strong>Christy<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u2014added in the statement that they are \u201cgrateful for the support they have received and wishes to thank the emergency services who attended the scene.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">Hansard, who won an Oscar for Best Original Song with \u201cFalling Slowly\u201d for the Once soundtrack, was killed in the crash around 4:30 in the morning local time on Lower Road in Lucan, in the western part of Dublin, police confirmed in a release obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/glen-hansard-dead-irish-musician-and-once-star-killed-at-56-in-motorcycle-crash-12029144\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer\"><em>People<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Irish star has said goodbye to the world too soon.\u00a0 Glen Hansard, the Oscar-winning musician known for his role in Once, died July 29 in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Dublin, Ireland, his management confirmed in a statement.
