MLB insider Jeff Passan confirmed the Padres are open to trading Miller, but only on one condition. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Mason Miller is on the trade block, but the Padres won\u2019t listen to interested teams unless they make their entire roster available.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe Padres have told teams that if you want access to Mason Miller, then nobody is off limits in your organization,\u201d Passan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=A9IVwqVHiXk&amp;t=2s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said on his podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The All-Star closer is coveted for many reasons, primarily for the Cy Young-caliber performance Miller has put together this season. The right-hander is sporting a 0.82 ERA across 43.2 innings with 80 strikeouts.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Miller is a free agent after the 2029 season, which makes him all the more valuable on the trade market. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The New York Yankees have been heavily linked to Miller, but it\u2019s unclear how badly the team truly wants the reliever given the Padres\u2019 requirements to strike a deal. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller won last year\u2019s trade deadline by acquiring Mason Miller from the Athletics.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Padres\u2019 message to interested teams have caused some suitors to reconsider, though Passan expects San Diego\u2019s front office to hear from them again by Monday\u2019s deadline.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is a tack that some teams have said, \u2018You know what, we\u2019re gonna pump the brakes on this now,&#8217;\u201d Passan said. \u201cI would anticipate that those teams will check back in toward the end of this week as the Monday deadline approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nearly a year ago, the Padres won the deadline by acquiring Miller from the Athletics in exchange for top prospect Leo De Vries and three other minor league players. It seems more realistic that the Padres would trade Miller in the offseason, rather than the deadline. <\/p>\n<p>Yet it\u2019s also worth noting the Padres are 1.5 games back of a NL Wild Card spot, so the team\u2019s playoff hopes are still alive. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Padres star Mason Miller is the best closer in baseball.  <span class=\"credit\">AP Photo\/Matt Rourke<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Preller is known for making bold, and arguably crazy, moves in the summer.
