The pair returned to screens on Monday (27 July) as the BBC show gears up to celebrate its 20th anniversary following a short summer break.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, just seconds into Monday&#8217;s episode, the 52-year-old accidentally referred to Alex as &#8220;Alec&#8221; before quickly correcting himself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The slip-up didn&#8217;t go unnoticed, with one listener bringing it up during Vernon&#8217;s BBC Radio 2 show on Tuesday (July 28). Reading out a message from a listener named Kev, he said: &#8220;I was watching The One Show last night, who on earth is Alec Jones?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In response, Vernon replied: &#8220;Can you believe it? He aked her: &#8220;Did you notice that Alex and I had the giggles? Just out the back of Watchdog.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;They take it very seriously, very seriously at The One Show.
