technician was killed in a plane\u2019s fuel tank when some heavy machinery collapsed on top of him while he was carrying out maintenance work at London\u2019s Heathrow Airport, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p>Georgie Buxton, 23, died earlier this month \u2013 just two years after starting his technician role at Virgin Atlantic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/39887654\/aircraft-engineer-crushed-death-plane-engine-heathrow\/\">the Sun reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He was working on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane in one of Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He was in intensive care for four weeks following the accident before life support was switched off earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was not immediately clear what caused the death, and officials have grounded the jet until further notice on safety grounds,\u201d a source told the newspaper.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHeavy metal cannot fall from a jet machinery and the plane be allowed to continue flying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buxton had an \u201cimmense passion for aircraft engineering\u201d and previously worked for the low-cost carrier Ryanair at Stansted Airport in Essex, England, between September 2021 and June 2024 before joining Virgin Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy to share that I\u2019m starting a new position as an Aircraft Technician at Virgin Atlantic,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/georgie-buxton-1aa6b8211?utm_source=share_via&amp;utm_content=profile&amp;utm_medium=member_ios\">wrote on social media<\/a> at the time. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a pleasure working with all the engineers and mechanics whilst at Ryanair in Stansted and I\u2019ve been able to develop and learn a lot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow it\u2019s much-loved member of our engineering team has passed away,\u201d a Virgin spokesperson told the Sun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts are firmly with Georgie\u2019s family, loved ones, friends and colleagues at this incredibly sad and challenging time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety and wellbeing of our people is always our top priority, and we are devastated by this incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working closely with relevant authorities and the aircraft manufacturer on the investigation to establish all facts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Heathrow spokesperson said it was \u201csorry\u201d to hear of Buxton\u2019s death.
