Collins told Stewart she was \u201cnot surprised\u201d that Trump went after her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always felt this, regardless of who\u2019s the president, whether it\u2019s <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong>, Donald Trump \u2014 those are the two I\u2019ve covered \u2014 it\u2019s really not about me, and I don\u2019t want it to be about my reaction,\u201d Collins said. \u201cAnd so I think if you let it become about that, then it becomes a back-and-forth between the two of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed_container\" id=\"d85d0dbeba56dd40dd34b7ad1bc1db6f\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kaitlancollins?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KaitlanCollins<\/a> on Trump&#8217;s verbal attacks: <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really not about me, and I don&#8217;t want it to be about my reaction. \u2026 In those moments it&#8217;s important to put the reminder back on the work, on the question, and on the non-answers that we get.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DY009dNy3k\">pic.twitter.com\/DY009dNy3k<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Daily Show (@TheDailyShow) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheDailyShow\/status\/2081915012881559694?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 28, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>During an hour-long speech at Friday\u2019s dinner, Trump launched a shocking attack on Collins \u2014 comparing her to trans influencer <strong>Dylan Mulvaney<\/strong> and taking aim at an award she was given earlier in the evening for her coverage of the Trump White House. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to personally congratulate CNN\u2019s Kaitlan Collins on receiving her award,\u201d Trump said. \u201cIt was all about me. It was a fake, she shouldn\u2019t get the award, it was a fake. But I didn\u2019t mind.
