I moved to Sydney like four years ago, and I still haven\u2019t made any friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luh explained that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/woman-walks-home-alone-nyc-12-am-rates-scared-level-on-journey\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" staff-link\" rel=\"noopener \">moved to the new city<\/a> after the end of a relationship that lasted about three to four years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t opened my heart since,\u201d he said before going on to explain how he had a situationship with someone who recently called it quits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really opened my heart to this person, and she didn\u2019t reciprocate. simply expressing sadness still feel rare enough to be labeled \u201cbrave?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to experts, the answer may lie in the social conditioning of men and women and the \u201cdisplay rules\u201d that we are taught.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMen and women feel emotions similarly but are socialized to show them differently,\u201d Dr. Qing Huang, an Assistant Professor of Interpersonal \u2018brave\u2019).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The expert said this \u201csuppression\u201d comes at a cost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA <a href=\"https:\/\/psycnet.apa.org\/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Fcou0000176\" class=\" staff-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">meta-analysis<\/a> of nearly 20,000 participants found that conformity to masculine norms, particularly self-reliance and emotional control, is consistently associated with poorer mental health and lower willingness to seek help,\u201d Huang added.<\/p>\n<h3><b>\u201cTraditional masculine norms can make loneliness less visible until it becomes severe,\u201d psychologist M\u00e1ire B. As children, we were in school with our friends for hours each day.
