in Stockbridge, Georgia, are mourning the tragic loss of 14-year-old Seven Shirley, who died by suicide after accidentally shooting his younger sister, according to an exclusive report from <em>11 Alive.<\/em> <em>TMZ<\/em> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/07\/25\/21-savage-nephew-dead-by-suicide\/\">also reported <\/a>that Seven was a nephew of rapper 21 Savage, who paid tribute to the teen following the heartbreaking news by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbMSKeGj-HS\/?img_index=3\" id=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbMSKeGj-HS\/?img_index=3\">sharing a simple message <\/a>on social media:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRemember when you was a baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What happened to 21 Savage\u2019s \u201cnephew\u201d Seven Shirley?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the family, Seven accidentally shot his 12-year-old sister, Lyric, in the neck on the morning of July 22 before taking his own life. During an interview with<em> 11 Alive<\/em>, Seven\u2019s grandmother, Sharon Smith, said she has struggled to understand why her grandson made the devastating decision. Smith, who raised Seven since he was an infant, believes fear may have overwhelmed him in the moments after the shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust that fast that boy had made the decision to kill himself,\u201d Smith told <em>11 Alive <\/em>reporter<em> <\/em>Chase Houle in a July 23 interview. \u201cHe probably sat up there and thought, \u2018I\u2019m finna go to jail, they\u2019re going to ridicule me, everybody is going to be doing this and that and this, and this and that, and he couldn\u2019t take it.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smith also reflected on the close bond she shared with her grandson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere wasn\u2019t nothing in this world he wouldn\u2019t do for me. \u201cHe would say, \u2018Grandmama sit down in this chair right here,\u2019 and he would push me wherever. I\u2019d be so glad because I\u2019d be hurting so bad. He\u2019d push me wherever I wanted to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-how-did-seven-shirley-get-the-firearm\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How did Seven Shirley get the firearm?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the family continues to grieve, Smith said one question continues to weigh heavily on them: How did Seven get the gun? When Houle asked why Seven had a firearm, Smith said the family still doesn\u2019t have answers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe don\u2019t know. Stories.21savage\/Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tragedy comes just weeks after another devastating loss for the family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Smith said Seven was the cousin of 13-year-old DeMarcus Shirley, who was killed in a drive-by shooting while staying overnight with friends in DeKalb County earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the family says Lyric has undergone three surgeries on her neck and vocal cords.
