The cancellation of the Amazon show was largely a result of Jordan&#8217;s world being far to elaborate and the story&#8217;s depth being a challenge to adapt to screen. The same could be said about a potential open-world RPG for that matter, and the studio in charge of the project will certainly have their work cut out. <\/p>\n<p>Sadly, many fans remain skeptical about <em>The Wheel of Time<\/em> RPG&#8217;s future due to iwot Studios&#8217; long history of announcing ambitious <em>Wheel of Time<\/em> projects that either failed to materialize or were quietly abandoned. According to LinkedIn posts from former employees cited by French outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actugaming.net\/le-rpg-la-roue-du-temps-serait-il-deja-en-peril-des-licenciements-semblent-avoir-lieu-chez-iwot-studios-782329\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">ActuGaming<\/a>, the Montr\u00e9al studio has laid off most of its staff after running short on funding, leaving only a small core team to seek new investment and publishing partners, and these reported layoffs and lack of official updates paint a concerning picture for the project&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<p>That said, as of July 2026, iwot Studios still maintains that its AAA open-world <em>Wheel of Time <\/em>RPG is in development, and there has been no announcement that it has been canceled or put on hold. It&#8217;s unfortunate, because there&#8217;s arguably no other fantasy IP out there as ripe for a <em>Witcher 3<\/em>-style open-world RPG adaptation than <em>The Wheel of Time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, gamers are left imagining what would be possible if the project were in the hands of a studio like CD Projekt Red or Warhorse Games, who are now working on a <em>Lord of the Rings<\/em> Middle-Earth-based RPG. While iwot Studios has a massive opportunity to deliver something great, until they provide a significant proof of life for the project, we can only keep our fingers crossed that <em><strong>The Wheel
