On others, it gives me a little more room to move, think, work, and feel like myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simon said her health problems began with arthritis in her knees and one hip, after which she underwent three joint replacement surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>But during recovery, Simon starting having mobility issues. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had trouble standing up from low chairs and deep couches without someone offering me an arm,\u201d she explained, noting that there were eventually points where she couldn\u2019t walk without \u201cconsiderable help.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"> <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"> <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After Simon underwent \u201can extensive evaluation\u201d at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, she was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Her treatment, Simon said, has included medication to help with stiffness and other symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no tidy or predictable schedule to the illness.
