One by one, Romer confirmed her support for various policy positions that are sure to draw the ire of conservatives and moderate Democrats. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>BREAM: Abolish the Senate?<\/p>\n<p>ROMER: True.<\/p>\n<p>BREAM: OK, replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them?<\/p>\n<p>ROMER: Yep <\/p>\n<p>BREAM: Abolish ICE?<\/p>\n<p>ROMER: Absolutely. <\/p>\n<p>BREAM: Abolish borders and give amnesty to anyone currently in the US illegally? <\/p>\n<p>ROMER: As a long term plan, yep. <\/p>\n<p>BREAM: Defund the Pentagon?<\/p>\n<p>ROMER: Absolutely. <\/p>\n<p>BREAM: Abolish prisons, at least in large part?<\/p>\n<p>ROMER: Yeah, again, as part of a long term program, yeah?<\/p>\n<p>BREAM: OK, so no prisons. Government or public ownership of most large corporations? <\/p>\n<p>ROMER: Yeah, absolutely.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bream proceeded to press Romer for specifics on why the DSA wants to do away with the Senate, and how exactly it would do so. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Senate is an anachronistic institution, it comes from the British House of Lords,\u201d Romer said. \u201cIt is made to protect power for\u2026the senate was part of the system that was made to make sure that the people didn\u2019t have too much of a say. So we want to expand Congress significantly, but make it a unicameral legislature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later, the Fox News anchor pressed Romer on the idea of abolishing prisons. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we talk about abolishing prisons then, does that make society better?\u201d Bream said. \u201cI mean, is there anybody that should be incarcerated? I mean rapists, child predators, murderers?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romer elaborated on the DSA\u2019s position. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the long term plan when we think about most people who are in prison, they are mostly in prison for crimes of poverty,\u201d Romer said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that\u2019s not who I\u2019m talking about,\u201d Bream interjected. \u201cI\u2019m talking about the murderers and rapists.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hear you,\u201d Romer said. \u201cWhen we get rid of this need for crimes of poverty to exist, when we get rid of that destabilizing force that creates so many people who living in desperate situations and doing desperate things. That brings those numbers down to very small numbers, and then we can collectively decide what we do with those people. I suspect it won\u2019t look like the prison system as we know it today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOK, but you do think some people need to be away from society,\u201d Bream said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome people are not able to be functional members of society, that\u2019s true,\u201d Romer replied. \u201cBut what does that look like to keep the rest of us safe?
