{"id":18604,"date":"2026-07-27T07:42:43","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T02:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=18604"},"modified":"2026-07-27T07:42:43","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T02:42:43","slug":"daniel-dale-shreds-trumps-wild-new-claims-did-not-happen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=18604","title":{"rendered":"Daniel Dale Shreds Trump&#8217;s Wild New Claims: &#8216;Did Not Happen&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-body\">\n<p>CNN fact-checker <strong>Daniel Dale<\/strong> on Sunday shredded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/cnn-fact-checker-torpedoes-trump-over-gaffes-and-whoppers-at-cabinet-meeting\/\">recent whoppers<\/a> told by President <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>, when he asked his audience, \u201cRemember that?\u201d Except, there was nothing to remember.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Daniel, you\u2019ve been digging into these claims,\u201d began CNN anchor <strong>Erica Hill<\/strong>. \u201cThe most recent one from President Trump on Thursday saying, \u2018Oh, remember when all the TVs went out because there was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/07\/26\/politics\/fact-check-trump-wind-energy-tv\">no wind to power<\/a> the wind turbines that brought the electricity,\u201d which was an event the president asked us to remember that never actually happened. And it\u2019s not the first time he\u2019s done this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not. The president is making stuff up again!\u201d Dale exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo he\u2019s asking people to recall this massive nationwide television outage caused by the wind not blowing on June 27th, 2024, when he debated <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong>,\u201d Dale said. \u201cDid not happen, obviously. He said, \u2018Nobody could watch that debate.\u2019 More than 51 million Americans watched that debate on television alone, including people, of course, in the state that produces by far the most wind power, and that is Texas \u2014 Republican dominated Texas \u2014 then and now the nation\u2019s leader in wind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dale continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>So there have been at least a few times where he\u2019s asked people explicitly to remember something that absolutely did not occur. For example, last year he said, \u201cRemember when I was at my golf course in Scotland the day of the Brexit vote? And I correctly predicted that Brexit was going to pass in the referendum.\u2019 In fact, he was at that golf course the day after. So obviously couldn\u2019t make a prediction at the time.<\/p>\n<p>And then he has repeatedly offered fake history. This month alone, he\u2019s, at least on two other occasions, told stories that are also made up, one about <strong>George Washington<\/strong> and one about the construction of the Panama Canal.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>CNN rolled tape of Trump in the Oval Office saying, \u201cGeorge Washington had two desks in his pre-White House. One was \u2014 and they were right next to each other \u2014 One was for business and one was for the presidency. He had two desks in the same room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen President Trump started telling this, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/trump-george-washington-desk-crypto-b3009924.html\">George Washington had two desks<\/a>\u2018 story during his first term, I reached out to a number of historians who were experts on George Washington,\u201d Dale said. \u201cThey say they have no idea what the president is talking about.
