It&#8217;s not based on any of the Lee Child books, and the vague synopsis and lack of trailers give little hint to the story.<\/p>\n<p>About all that&#8217;s known about <em>Neagley<\/em> is that it will see Sten&#8217;s titular private investigator investigating a friend&#8217;s passing. Even so, audiences are tuning in because they largely know what to expect: Reacher wanders into a new misadventure, investigates a mystery and then kills all the bad guys in the finale.<\/p>\n<section class=\"emaki-custom-block emaki-custom-note\" data-nosnippet=\"\">\n<div class=\"emaki-custom note\" id=\"custom_block_8\">\n<div class=\"custom_block-content note\">\n<p>Alan Ritchson has dubbed the second novel,<em> Die Trying<\/em>, as his favorite <em>Jack Reacher<\/em> book.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p>It&#8217;s a simple but deeply satisfying formula.<em> Neagley<\/em>, however, is an unknown quantity. It&#8217;s still going to be a thriller with a mystery element, but the spinoff has a clean slate to experiment with the franchise. Neagley herself is a very different character to Reacher, and she&#8217;s not going to respond to events in the same way; in short, she won&#8217;t be breaking limbs or necks with the same frequency.<\/p>\n<p>The fact the spinoff isn&#8217;t based on any of the <em>Reacher<\/em> novels is also a feature, not a bug. The showrunners behind the franchise have proved they know what they&#8217;re doing, so <em>Neagley<\/em> is a chance for them to play around in that world a little more. She brings a wit and intelligence to Neagley that is both charming and brings out Reacher&#8217;s humanity in a lovely way. Even so, Sten is such a winning presence that it still worked out to keep the character around. A few audience favorites have emerged from the series, including Roscoe (Willa Fitzgerald), but Neagley is undoubtedly considered the co-lead of <em>Reache<\/em>r by this point.<\/p>\n<p><em>Reacher<\/em> fans will be eating very well in 2026, since Neagley will be arriving right after season four wraps up. It would be fun if the two shows intersected in some form, but even if they don&#8217;t, <em>Neagley<\/em> will be must-watch TV.
