data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">Substack<\/a> essay posted on Monday, in which she admitted to having zero recollection of her participation in the event.<\/p>\n<p>In the essay titled \u201cThe Day I\u2019ll Never Remember,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/news\/2476852\/jeopardy-host-katie-couric-first-female-alex-trebek\/\">Daytime Emmy Award winner<\/a> revealed she didn\u2019t recall meeting half of her fellow speakers, nor did she have any memory of what they discussed onstage.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI have met Jelani [Cobb] and know Aaron [Parnas] a bit, but right now, I couldn\u2019t pick Amy [Webb] or<span>\u00a0<\/span>Jerusalem<span>\u00a0<\/span>[Demsas] out of a lineup,<\/span>\u201d Katie said of the other panelists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no idea what we talked appeared \u201cout of it,\u201d and he took her to Aspen Valley Hospital to get checked out.<\/p>\n<p>John didn\u2019t initially believe his wife\u2019s behavior was a cause for concern, chalking it up to \u201caltitude sickness.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI noticed nothing unusual in the conversation or Katie\u2019s role,\u201d the 63-year-old added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving spent a lot of time in Aspen since I was a kid, I assumed Katie was dehydrated and suffering from some form of altitude sickness \u2013 something common among visitors to a town that\u2019s about 7,900 feet above sea level.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"rail-container rail-container--full-width rail-container--white\">\n<div class=\"rail rail--classic article theme-entertainment\">\n<p><h3 class=\"rail__title\">Most read in Entertainment<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>However, they realized the severity of Katie\u2019s issues when hospital staff asked her the month, year, and who the president was, which she got all wrong. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure of the month. I thought it was 2024. And I believed Joe Biden was president,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/tv\/15247286\/katie-couric-returns-today-show-colon-cancer-awareness\/\">former Today show anchor<\/a> wrote.<\/p>\n<p>While doctors first thought Katie\u2019s symptoms were the result of a stroke, an MRI showed there was something else going on.<\/p>\n<p>She was then diagnosed with transient global amnesia, which she described as \u201ca sudden, temporary loss of the ability to form new memories.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16656566\" class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-caption alignnone aligncenter\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span>Katie admitted that she didn\u2019t know what the year was and thought that Joe Biden was still the president<\/span> <span class=\"credit\">Credit: Getty<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16656584\" class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-caption alignnone aligncenter\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span>Katie was diagnosed with transient global amnesia, and her memory returned the next day<\/span> <span class=\"credit\">Credit: Getty<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A neurologist assured the journalist that her memory would return the next day, and, thankfully, it did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a freaky occurrence, it could have been much more serious,\u201d Katie told readers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, I\u2019m relieved \u2013 even though several hours of a\u00a0Saturday in June will always be missing for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The TV star has unfortunately dealt with health problems in the past. <\/p>\n<p>She was diagnosed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/entertainment\/6319878\/today-katie-couric-breast-cancer-diagnosis-sick-news\/\">early-stage breast cancer<\/a> in 2022 and underwent lumpectomy, radiation therapy, and aromatase inhibitors.<\/p>\n<p>Katie was declared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/topic\/cancer\/\">cancer<\/a>-free following her treatments that same year.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATIE Couric has opened up about a terrifying health scare that caused severe memory loss.
