Can you believe it?\u201d amplified a message from a now-suspended account. The message included a high-quality version of the film, as confirmed by <em>Variety<\/em>, and climbed to over 2.1 million views within two and a half hours. By that time, the streaming film was replaced by a takedown notice, and then the account was suspended.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt certainly doesn\u2019t seem to have hurt the film\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/box-office\/the-odyssey-box-office-massive-second-weekend-1236821417\/\">still-surging box office<\/a> in its second weekend, during which it earned another $87 million, or lessen demand for the <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/the-odyssey-imax-70mm-showtimes-will-there-be-more-tickets-1236816709\/\">coveted Imax 70 mm tickets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs of July 26, a few clones of the bootlegged film are available on X, but they\u2019ve been mostly flooded away by mislabeled files promising \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d but actually showing a Rickroll, the longtime internet prank of tricking people into watching the music video for Rick Astley\u2019s 1987 song \u201cNever Gonna Give You Up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBeyond piracy, X owner Elon Musk has been vocal with his opinions on the Christopher Nolan movie, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/elon-musk-odyssey-casting-academy-awards-eligibility-1236750162\/\">insulting casting choices<\/a> in particular, writing, \u201cWho specifically is the asshole who added DEI lies to Academy Awards eligibility instead of it just being about making the best movie?\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/global\/elon-musk-grok-ai-odyssey-film-historically-accurate-1236817856\/\">then said<\/a> his AI tool Grok Imagine would make a \u201chistorically accurate\u201d version of the film to release this year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe Odyssey\u201d leaks have begun, as a high-quality bootleg of the film reached millions of people on X thanks to a viral tweet on July 25.
