That\u2019s all,\u201d Adeyemi wrote in DMs she shared on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@tomi.adeyemi\/video\/7658660328879688973\">TikTok<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cAnd lastly since someone asked \u2013 I have not seen the film, and I will not watch it,\u201d added Adeyemi, who also co-wrote the film with Prince-Bythewood. \u201cIt\u2019s been painful holding this back from you all. \u2026 And I\u2019m sorry if any of you thought I didn\u2019t care about US. More than any glitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAdeyemi also shared a screenshot of a DM she apparently sent to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/amandla-stenberg\/\" id=\"auto-tag_amandla-stenberg\" data-tag=\"amandla-stenberg\">Amandla Stenberg<\/a>, who plays Princess Amari in the film adaptation. \u201cDo not ever use my name in an interview or video again. Do not text me. Do not call me,\u201d she wrote to Stenberg. Deadline has reached out to Stenberg\u2019s rep.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe message was dated in late February, shortly after Stenberg responded to accusations of \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/amandla-stenberg-children-blood-bone-221258353.html\">stealing roles from dark-skinned women<\/a>,\u201d as many fans noted the character is described in the book as having \u201cdark copper skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI had the opportunity to meet Tomi, the novelist, for the first time,\u201d said Stenberg at the time. \u201cThen, she goes, \u2018Amandla, I want you to know that when you were a little girl and were cast as Rue in <em>The Hunger Games<\/em>, and you had these racist remarks thrown at you because people said that Rue\u2019s death wouldn\u2019t be as sad because you\u2019re a Black girl \u2014 that inspired me to write this series, so that Black girls like you and Black girls of all shades could have a story written about them.\u2019 We just started crying, and I said to myself, \u2018God wants me here!&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBased on the first book in Adeyemi\u2019s Legacy of Or\u00efsha trilogy, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/children-of-blood-and-bone\/\" id=\"auto-tag_children-of-blood-and-bone\" data-tag=\"children-of-blood-and-bone\">Children of Blood and Bone<\/a><\/em> is set in an African fantasy kingdom where a young woman goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people.
