Photo by Syria Civil Defense\/Telegram&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;\n                                            <\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p><span class=\"story_dl\">July 25 (UPI) &#8212;<\/span> Two buses collided in Syria on Saturday, killing 35 people and injuring another 30, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>One bus had been transporting members of the Internal Security Forces while the other had civilians when they crashed on Deir Az Zor-Damascus Road, between al-Sukhnah and Palmyra.\n<\/p>\n<p>Several helicopters were needed to rush dozens of injured victims to Homs Military Hospital, the Defense Ministry told state-owned <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/syria\/2331994\/\" target=\"_blank\">Syrian Arab News Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Health Minister Musab al-Ali said &#8220;a number of patients remain in critical condition, requiring surgical procedures, most of them orthopedic surgeries, in addition to neurological cases.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A few patients sustained minor injuries and are expected to be discharged in the coming days, the minister added to <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/syria\/2332095\/\" target=\"_blank\">SANA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, President Ahmed al-Sharaa said, &#8220;May God have mercy on the victims.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have directed the mobilization of all necessary resources to address the repercussions of the accident, provide care for the injured, and stand by the families of the victims,&#8221; the Syrian president <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AH_AlSharaa\/status\/2081012301444870504\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on X<\/a>. &#8220;We ask God to grant them patience and solace, and healing for the injured.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yarub Badr, Syria&#8217;s transport minister, said the collision was a &#8220;painful tragedy&#8221; that highlights the need for new infrastructure investment.\n<\/p>\n<p>Bard told <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/syria\/2332112\/\" target=\"_blank\">SANA<\/a> the road had &#8220;suffered years of neglect and deteriorating maintenance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two buses collided in Syria on Saturday, killing 35 people and injuring another 30, officials said.
