The duo also revealed that David Jonsson is set to star as the new Black Panther, playing an adult version of the son of T\u2019Challa, portrayed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/chadwick-boseman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chadwick-boseman_1\" data-tag=\"chadwick-boseman\">Chadwick Boseman<\/a> in the 2018 original.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJonsson is a recent Hollywood breakout, with key roles in <em>Alien: Romulus<\/em> and <em>The Long Walk<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/black-panther-wakanda-forever\/\" id=\"auto-tag_black-panther-wakanda-forever_1\" data-tag=\"black-panther-wakanda-forever\">Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/a><\/em> ended with the revelation that the late Chadwick Boseman\u2019s T\u2019Challa had a young son with Lupita Nyong\u2019o Nakia. Given that this is Marvel, it\u2019s possible some sort of time jump or other factors are involved to age him up for the sequel. The film also will come after <em>Avengers: Secret Wars<\/em>, likely will affect the larger MCU.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <em>Black Panther<\/em> film franchise kicked off with the 2018 title, starring Boseman as  T\u2019Challa. With a cast that included Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/letitia-wright\/\" id=\"auto-tag_letitia-wright_1\" data-tag=\"letitia-wright\">Letitia Wright<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/winston-duke\/\" id=\"auto-tag_winston-duke_1\" data-tag=\"winston-duke\">Winston Duke<\/a> and Angela Bassett, the film was a smash hit, collecting $1.3 billion at the global box office and becoming the first superhero feature to land an Academy Award nomination for best picture. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBoseman was set to reprise his lead role in a planned sequel before his death in 2020 after a private battle with colon cancer. The follow-up film\u2019s focus shifted to Wright\u2019s character, Shuri, taking up the mantle of Black Panther following the death of brother T\u2019Challa. The sequel,<em> Wakanda Forever<\/em>, hit theaters in 2022 and surpassed $850 million at the worldwide box office. It won an Oscar from five nominations, with Bassett becoming the first performer nominated for an Academy Award for a performance in a Marvel movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAmong the highlights of this year\u2019s Marvel panel at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sdcc\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sdcc_1\" data-tag=\"sdcc\">SDCC<\/a> included Ryan Gosling taking the stage to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/ryan-gosling-ghost-rider-for-marvel-studios-1236656560\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reveal his role as Ghost Rider<\/a> in a forthcoming feature from Shawn Levy, his director for next year\u2019s <em>Star Wars: Starfighter.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Black Panther 3 is ready to claw its way into theaters.
