Two days before announcing the cancellation, Peck said he intentionally overdosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI was a bad addict, a coping alcoholic,\u201d the openly gay singer told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/orville-peck-overdose-rehab-new-album-mule-1235597852\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>. \u201cAnd I had this spiral moment, where I went back to my hotel and tried to take my life. It was a big turning point for me, with a lot of realizations to come. It was something that needed to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPeck, whose real name is Daniel Pitout, said he was \u201cin one of the worst places\u201d of his life. The experience, along with a breakup and a stint in rehab, became the foundation for his fourth album, <em>Mule<\/em>, due Sept. 18 through Warner Records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a news release <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/country\/orville-peck-4th-studio-album-mule-too-little-too-late-single-1236302257\/\">announcing the album<\/a>, the 13-song collection is described as a \u201cchronological timeline of the year that reshaped his life, tracing the collapse of addiction, the difficult pursuit of sobriety, and the slow, often uncertain process of rebuilding. Told with unflinching honesty, humor, and compassion, <em>Mule<\/em> finds Peck confronting love, loss, and identity through songs that move fluidly between classic country storytelling, bluegrass, and expansive Americana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe album\u2019s lead single, \u201cToo Little, Too Late,\u201d arrived Friday (July 24). The pop-country track, co-written by Peck, Steve Rusch and Semisonic\u2019s Dan Wilson, serves as a sharp kiss-off to an ex looking for another chance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPeck also told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> that his time in rehab inspired the album track \u201cRehab Blues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t want to be there. I thought it was a waste of time, that I\u2019m unique and didn\u2019t have a problem,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I was like, I\u2019m going to write the funniest song about this experience, because at the time I was just like, \u2018F\u2014 this. I want to leave.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMule follows last November\u2019s <em>Appaloosa<\/em> EP, released after Peck\u2019s 16-week Broadway run as the emcee in <em>Cabaret<\/em> at the Kit Kat Club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPeck, who performed Dolly Parton\u2019s \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d during his Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday (July 21), will launch his Man Turned Mule 2026 North American tour on Oct. 28 in Sacramento, California.
