{"id":17374,"date":"2026-07-26T02:59:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T21:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=17374"},"modified":"2026-07-26T02:59:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T21:59:29","slug":"bon-iver-plays-full-bob-dylan-covers-set-as-bon-dylan-at-eaux-claires-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=17374","title":{"rendered":"Bon Iver Plays Full Bob Dylan Covers Set as Bon Dylan at Eaux Claires Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Bon-Dylan.jpeg?quality=80\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-id=\"1613920\" data-title=\"Bon Iver Plays Full Bob Dylan Covers Set as Bon Dylan at Eaux Claires Festival\" data-url=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/07\/bon-iver-do-bob-dylan-at-eaux-claires\/\" data-page=\"1\" data-pages=\"1\">\n<p>Bon Dylan delivered what the name promised on July 24th at <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/eaux-claires-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eaux Claires festival<\/a> in Eau Claire, Wisconsin \u2014 an eras-spanning set of <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/bob-dylan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bob Dylan<\/a> covers by <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/bon-iver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bon Iver<\/a> and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon took to the microphone and started the set with Dylan\u2019s 1997 song \u201cNot Dark Yet\u201d before going into his 1989 track \u201cShooting Star.\u201d From there, the 16-song set focused on Dylan\u2019s output from the 1960s and 1970s starting with \u201cDon\u2019t Think Twice, It\u2019s All Right\u201d from 1962\u2019s <em>The Freewheelin\u2019 Bob Dylan<\/em> and \u201cThe Man in Me\u201d off of <em>New Morning<\/em> from 1970. The band started this first third of the set with mostly acoustic performances sparsely adorn.<\/p>\n<p>Kicking in the full-band with electric guitar and bass, two drummers, gritty harmonica, keys and more, the group performed a duo of <em>Blood on the Tracks<\/em> tunes, going from \u201cTangled Up in Blue\u201d to \u201cMeet Me in the Morning\u201d with \u201cTonight I\u2019ll Be Staying Here With You\u201d from 1969\u2019s <em>Nashville Skyline<\/em> in between as drummer Sean Carey took over vocals for the song. Dylan\u2019s 1960s\u2019 recordings were also represented by \u201cBoots of Spanish Leather\u201d an acoustic duet with Vernon and Monica Martin, \u201cLay Lady Lay,\u201d \u201cAll Along the Watchtower,\u201d and \u201cWith God On Our Side.\u201d Songs from his Christian trilogy also made appearances, with Bon Dylan performing an organ- and piano-driven version of \u201cWhen He Returns\u201d and \u201cShot of Love.\u201d The band concluded the night with a rousing encore of \u201cKnockin\u2019 on Heaven\u2019s Door.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Eaux Claires festival, founded by Vernon and The National\u2019s Aaron Dessner in 2015, made its return on Friday after an eight-year hiatus. The announcement of the festival\u2019s return also came with the announcement of Bon Dylan\u2019s scheduled performance, and, while the name was unfamiliar, it was apparent that the group was going to be Bon Iver performing Dylan covers, which <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/04\/bon-iver-bon-dylan-eaux-claires-fest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vernon elaborated on in April<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere during Friday\u2019s festivities, Justin Vernon performed a last-minute solo acoustic set as \u201cBon\u201d in place of Kevin Morby, who recently welcomed a child with his partner, Waxahatchee\u2019s Katie Crutchfield.
