The cost is incalculable! Canada has refused to engage in basic Forest Management and Debris Removal, knowing that such refusal will lead to exactly this result. This is Willful Negligence, and becoming a yearly occurrence, costing the United States Billions of Dollars, which cost of this pollution must of necessity be added to the TARIFFS Canada is currently paying.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Then, on Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/bridge-too-far-canada-cancels-border-crossing-ceremony-after-surprise-trump-tariffs\/\">the U.S. was disinvited<\/a> to what was supposed to be a joint ribbon cutting between the two nations to mark the opening of the $4.4 billion bridge named after hockey legend <strong>Gordie Howe<\/strong> that links Detroit, Michigan, with Windsor, Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>Canada pulled back its invitation after Trump added additional 50% tariffs this week \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2026\/07\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-imposes-additional-tariffs-on-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in response<\/a>\u00a0to Canada\u2019s discriminatory treatment of American products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/just-in-trump-hits-back-after-canada-cancels-joint-bridge-opening-over-huge-new-tariffs\/\">Trump hit back on Truth Social<\/a>, writing, &#8220;Canada disinvited the United States of America to the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge, which is fine, considering they are paying substantial TARIFFS to the United States, but the original Deal on the Bridge, which was terribly negotiated by a previous Administration, no longer stands,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We changed the terms of the Deal so that the United States of America now gets 50% of the Profit.
