They said the unpaid bonuses were undermining morale and disrupting patient care, and called on Congolese authorities to settle the arrears so they could resume their work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">In a statement issued Friday, staff said they had unanimously voted to strike from Saturday until \u201cconcrete solutions\u201d were found to resolve \u201ctwo months of unpaid performance bonuses.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Last week, health workers at Bunia General Hospital, the region\u2019s largest medical center, <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/congo-ebola-outbreak-who-2000-cases-b0645a84c4f95c7101e343484edeac1b\">went on strike over unpaid salaries<\/a>. Some had told The Associated Press they have not received any payment since they started work at the onset of the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The World Health Organization says more than 100 healthcare workers have been infected since the beginning of the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The Central African nation has been battling the Ebola outbreak caused by the rare <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ebola-bundibugyo-virus-outbreak-congo-baf5f9861a896ca027a9e40524d42e74\">Bundibugyo virus<\/a> since May 15.
