As the latest preview,\u00a0she has revealed the new single, \u201cKind.\u201d Stream it below.<\/p>\n<p>Oladokun produced the 12-track <em>Hope Is a Heavy Thing<\/em> with additional contributions from Nigerian producer Spellz, expanding her sound while exploring themes of identity, connection, and self-discovery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vivid-seats.pxf.io\/c\/1882189\/952533\/12730?subId1=joy-oladokun%2Anew-album-hope-is-a-heavy-thing-button&amp;subId2=&amp;subId3=&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vividseats.com%2Fjoy-oladokun-tickets%2Fperformer%2F117122\" class=\"button button-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Get Joy Oladokun Tickets Here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018To understand your future you have to confront your past.\u2019 This is the driving theme behind <em>Hope Is a Heavy Thing<\/em>,\u201d Oladokun shared in a statement about the follow-up to 2024\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2024\/09\/joy-oladokun-observations-from-a-crowded-room\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>OBSERVATIONS FROM A CROWDED ROOM<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a collection of 12 songs that I wrote to help myself find my light again after burning out. Produced in Nashville, New York, and the back of a speeding tour bus, this album is sonically an homage to all of the music that inspires me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>She continued by explaining the project nods to \u201990s neo-soul and hip-hop collective The Soulquarians, Bob Dylan, Afrobeats rhythms, late producer J Dilla, The Ronettes, and protest music of the 1960s and 1970s. \u201cIt is a record I wrote for anyone who finds themselves wondering how to hope in these times,\u201d Oladokun added. \u201cSometimes it means looking back and digging through the muck to find what\u2019s worth fighting for again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coming after January\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/01\/joy-oladokun-nothing-comes-easy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cNothing Comes Easy,\u201d<\/a> new single \u201cKind\u201d is about finally letting go of someone after giving them\u00a0too many second chances: \u201cYou haven\u2019t been as sweet as you used to be\/ And burning bridges down isn\u2019t new to me\/ They say that if it hurts you should set it free\/ If it don\u2019t return then just let it be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oladokun currently has only a handful of shows on her slate, including an August gig at Nashville\u2019s Grand Ole Opry House and next April\u2019s Moon Crush in Miramar Beach, Florida.
