Prime subscribers to file a claim to receive a portion of a historic $2.5 billion settlement the company reached with the Federal Trade Commission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">Amazon agreed to the deal last September to settle a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/system\/files\/ftc_gov\/pdf\/amazon-rosca-public-redacted-complaint-to_be_filed.pdf?hubs_content=thehustle.co%2F08042020-google-adt&amp;hubs_content-cta=blog-hustle-header-author-name\" title=\"undefined\" target=\"undefined\">lawsuit<\/a> over allegations that \u201cmillions of customers into \u201cunknowingly\u201d enrolling in its paid Amazon Prime service and then made the subscriptions difficult to cancel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/news-events\/news\/press-releases\/2025\/09\/ftc-secures-historic-25-billion-settlement-against-amazon\" title=\"undefined\" target=\"undefined\">settlement<\/a> requires Amazon to stop those alleged practices and pay heft fines\u2014as well as offering \u201cfull relief for the estimated 35 million consumers impacted by unwanted Prime enrollment or deferred cancellation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"font-graphik\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">Amazon has denied any wrong-doing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">&#8220;Amazon and our executives have always followed the law and this settlement allows us to move forward and focus on innovating for customers,\u201d the company said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/news\/company-news\/amazon-response-on-ftc-agreement\" title=\"undefined\" target=\"undefined\">statement<\/a> following the settlement announcement. \u201cWe work incredibly hard to make it clear and simple for customers to both sign up or cancel their Prime membership, and to offer substantial value for our many millions of loyal Prime members around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">The deadline for submitting a claim for compensation under the settlement is July 27.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">Here\u2019s how to know if you\u2019re eligible for a portion of the settlement, and how to file a claim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 id=\"who-s-eligible\" class=\"scroll-mt-24 font-editorial text-black-coffee text-mobile-h2 lg:scroll-mt-28 lg:text-h2 mb-4\">Who&#8217;s eligible?<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">To be eligible for a refund under the settlement, you must be an AmazonPrime customer in the U.S. who \u201cunintentionally\u201d signed up for the service through a \u201cchallenged enrollment flow\u201d or attempted to cancel your subscription but were unable to between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"font-graphik\" data-testid=\"paragraph-content\">\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/enforcement\/refunds\/amazon-refunds\" title=\"undefined\" target=\"undefined\">FTC<\/a>, the challenged enrollment flows include the universal Amazon Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single page checkout, and the Prime Video enrollment flow. The agency noted that customers do not have to determine for themselves whether they signed up for Prime through one of those flows; Amazon will make that determination.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">You are also only eligible for the settlement if you have used no more than three of Prime\u2019s benefits, such as Prime Video or Prime Music, within any 12-month period after you enrolled in the service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2 id=\"how-to-submit-a-claim\" class=\"scroll-mt-24 font-editorial text-black-coffee text-mobile-h2 lg:scroll-mt-28 lg:text-h2 mb-4\">How to submit a claim<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">Eligible Amazon customers should have received a notice to file their claim by email or mail, according to the settlement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.subscriptionmembershipsettlement.com\/frequently-asked-questions.aspx\" title=\"undefined\" target=\"undefined\">website<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">Using a \u201cClaim ID and PIN\u201d included in the notice they received, customers can also access their <a href=\"https:\/\/veritaconnect.com\/subscriptionmembershipsettlement\/?v=1\" title=\"undefined\" target=\"undefined\">claim form<\/a> via the settlement website.
