The level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">This year would have marked Sick of it All\u2019s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou\u2019s camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm were always steadfast throughout the years. We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to raise everyone\u2019s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">At this time of intense grief, we must again acknowledge the great help and support offered by everyone who donated to Lou\u2019s medical fund. You all helped Lou feel very special and very loved as he battled away these last two years. His battle is over now and he can finally rest. Hopefully he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Koller first revealed that doctors <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2024\/06\/sick-of-it-all-lou-koller-tumor-esophagus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found a tumor<\/a> in his esophagus in June 2024, but roughly a year later he reported that he was <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/05\/sick-of-it-all-lou-koller-cancer-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancer-free<\/a> following chemotherapy treatments. Unfortunately, a few months after that he revealed that the <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/09\/sick-of-it-all-lou-koller-cancer-has-returned\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancer had returned<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Lou formed Sick of It All in 1986 in Queens, New York, with his brother Pete Koller on guitar. The longtime lineup of the Koller brothers, drummer Armand Majidi, and bassist Craig Setari had remained active until Koller\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n<p>During their 40-year career, Sick of It All released 12 albums, with 2018\u2019s <em>Wake the Sleeping Dragon!<\/em> being their most recent LP.<\/p>\n<p>Sick of It All\u2019s brand of New York City hardcore influenced countless bands, including Refused, Hatebreed, Rise Against, and more.<\/p>\n<p>In the comments section of Sick of It All\u2019s Instagram post, several music acts have paid tribute, including Metallica, who simply left a heart emoji, and Slayer\/Exodus guitarist Gary Holt, who wrote, \u201cI am so sorry for your loss, for everyone. He was always the coolest and a total legend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our condolences go out to Lou Koller\u2019s family, friends, and bandmates during this difficult time.
