Genius.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019d make a really weird\u00a0<em>Blade<\/em>,\u201d the sequel\u2019s writer, producer and star Josh Gad joked later on during the panel in response to an audience\u2019s question. \u201cBut maybe it would finally get made.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAt first, returning star Rick Moranis, aka Dark Helmet, could not be found in the room, until the camera discovered him disguised in a group of fans wearing the character\u2019s helmet. The former McKenzie Brother stood up and received a standing ovation.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cRick is underselling it,\u201d Gad joked. \u201cThey\u2019re announcing him as part of the <em>X-Men <\/em>cast tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tGad shouted out Moranis as \u201cone of the four men on my comedy Mount Rushmore. Another one of them is John Candy. This movie is really a love letter to him. I am not playing Barf in this movie. I am playing a new mog in our movie. John is at the beating heart of this film and the reason why this movie has so much heart. I remember being too young to understand that the hat didn\u2019t just fall into the abyss of space. This whole movie\u2019s about him trying to get his damn hat back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor a while I had real beef with Barf,\u201d added the young Pullman. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBrooks\u2019 sense of humor is historically politically incorrect (read <em>Blazing Saddles<\/em>), so how does that get by in this fierce Trumpian era? Will <em>Spaceballs 2<\/em> avoid controversy? \u201cIt\u2019s all about the laughs, Mel always said,\u201d according to the sequel\u2019s director Josh Greenbaum. <\/p>\n<p>Added Moranis, \u201cThere\u2019s room in a Mel Brooks movie for the smartest joke you\u2019ve ever thought of and the dumbest one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe clip shown in the room today was longer than one at CinemaCon, which showed Brooks as Yogurt, Keke Palmer and Lewis Pullman\u2019s characters on the adventure, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and culminating with an Avatar Na\u2019vi entering the men\u2019s room and taking to the urinal.
