After an almost six-month ceasefire, fighting resumed for three weeks in December with airstrikes and shelling.<\/p>\n<p id=\"eTahF_M_TfzW\" data-wc=\"28\">Angelina took to social media to share that, a year after the evacuation, the foundation has resumed &#8220;work protecting the land and supporting the community\u2019s health and livelihoods.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"eAwk5DVV_PDu\" data-wc=\"9\">However, nearly 30,000 people remain displaced, according to Angelina.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"e5pvzcoeA4\" data-wc=\"39\">&#8220;I love this country and its resilient, warm people. Although Maddox is more private than his mom, the connection he has with his home runs deep, and is one his mother often references in her work.<\/p>\n<p id=\"exd8mI408QtF\" data-wc=\"13\">The <em>Lara Croft\u00a0<\/em>actress runs the foundation, named in honor of her son.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"emXlAgHkOPT\" data-wc=\"25\">Its aim is to support &#8220;communities in the Samlout region of Cambodia as they lead efforts to strengthen sustainable conservation, agriculture, health, and education infrastructure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"eqLa3VbPjL-U\" data-wc=\"37\">Angelina <a class=\"hm-link he-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/homes\/848297\/angelina-jolie-148k-acre-cambodian-property-for-son-maddox\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"article-body-link\">purchased the traditional home in rural Cambodia<\/a> the year after the adoption, and reportedly later added more than 148,000 acres of land surrounding the home, intending to turn the traditional rainforest area into a wildlife preserve.<\/p>\n<p id=\"e39dbGZAZn6Z\" data-wc=\"26\">The building is a wooden longhouse with a thatched straw roof.
