A TV adaptation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/how-read-dungeon-crawler-carl-books-free-leaving-ku\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Dungeon Crawler Carl <\/em>books<\/a> was officially confirmed for Peacock earlier this year, the streaming service giving the fantasy book series a full season greenlight in June. The novels follow the titular Carl, a US Coast Guard veteran, who traverses a dungeon crawl with his ex-girlfriend&#8217;s cat, Princess Donut, in hopes of surviving Earth&#8217;s destruction by the galactic Syndicate.<\/p>\n<p> In an interview with <em>ScreenRant<\/em>&#8216;s Joe Deckelmeier at San Diego Comic-Con, Dinnaman explained what the vision for the <em>Dungeon Crawler Carl <\/em>TV show is as of right now, and what it means for the future of the show. When asked about the multiseason potential of the series, the author explained how &#8220;<em>conversations are happening,<\/em>&#8221; but the goal right now is to finish season 1. He likened it to painting a room, explaining that it was important to finish the first season before considering what the future might bring.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Joe Deckelmeier: <\/strong>Have you started plotting out how many seasons you want to do with [Dungeon Crawler Carl], or is just getting through the first one?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Dinnaman:<\/strong> We&#8217;re just getting through the first one before we&#8230;I&#8217;m sure those conversations are happening, but we haven&#8217;t even gotten that far yet. We are basically painting the walls of the room we&#8217;re about to move into, so we haven&#8217;t gotten where you are yet.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Deckelmeier also spoke to <em>Dungeon Crawler Carl <\/em>audiobook narrator Jeff Hays, who discussed what it felt like to be <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/dungeon-crawler-carl-show-princess-donut-casting-confirmed\/\" target=\"_blank\">cast as the voice of Princess Donut<\/a> for the TV show. He explained that his voice for the feline is a fan-favorite, something that helped in making production decide to bring him aboard for the character&#8217;s TV debut. Dinniman also explained that Hays was his first choice as Princess Donut, too, making it an inevitable and fitting casting choice for the series:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Joe Deckelmeier: <\/strong>What was your reaction when they told you the audio voice was going to make the jump to television? <\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeff Hays: <\/strong>As far as being able to predict or to think that I would be playing her in the TV series. Well, you know, ever since they started talking about the TV show, the fans have been making horrible, horrible threats to the production crew about what might happen if they didn&#8217;t do it. So I didn&#8217;t really have to push for it myself. I just kind of let things happen. They have said over social media over the last day that the pitchforks have been put away. So I think they did the right thing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Dinnaman: <\/strong>I mean, I don&#8217;t want to get stabbed by a pitchfork either. As far as I was concerned, Jeff was always my number one choice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As of now, it appears the fantasy TV show is being envisioned as a single-season endeavor, with room for growth if the show is successful. There&#8217;s plenty of plot for it to cover, too: <em>Dungeon Crawler Carl <\/em>is eight books total, with the final book currently in the works, expected to be split into two volumes. Because of how much story the show could cover, season 1 may just be the start of a major new step for the novels, as they evolve into a full-fledged franchise. Fuzzy Door will also be handling the CGI, having previously worked with Peacock on the <em>Ted <\/em>TV show to make the comedic stuffed bear come to life. Although it&#8217;s unclear when the series will debut, its current development and Hays&#8217; casting is a good sign that it&#8217;s being actively worked on.<\/p>\n<p>As the series&#8217; development progresses, more news is bound to be confirmed about the state of <em><strong>Dungeon Crawler Carl <\/strong><\/em>and what the plans are for the show. Since Dinnaman is focused on getting season 1 off the ground, it might be some time before any news regarding a possible season 2 or beyond are ever revealed.
