\u201csaved\u201d her life, years after gaining weight while grieving the loss of her mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen my mom died, all of us children gained weight,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/07\/11\/celebrity-news\/amount-rosie-odonnell-had-in-the-bank-when-she-quit-her-talk-show\/\">talk show<\/a> icon <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/rosie-o-donnell-all-the-details-about-her-glp-1-weight-loss-and-her-facelift-12023485\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told People<\/a> in an interview published Thursday, referencing the 1973 death of her family\u2019s matriarch, Roseann O\u2019Donnell.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cA League of Their Own\u201d actress recalled her father giving the five children \u201ca $100 bill and we would go to Foodtown to do the food shopping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow if you\u2019re 11-years-old and you\u2019re shopping for a family of five, there\u2019s nothing nutritious about it,\u201d she shared. \u201cIt was Entenmann\u2019s and Cap\u2019n Crunch and we would always say, \u2018Subtotal please,\u2019 and when it got near $100, we\u2019d put back the chicken and the hamburger meat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone got heavy,\u201d O\u2019Donnell remembered. \u201cEveryone was in such grief and trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image noting that since <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/08\/13\/celebrity-news\/rosie-odonnell-is-still-shocked-over-her-mounjaro-weight-loss-in-new-photo\/\">starting the medication<\/a>, she\u2019s \u201clost a pound or two a month for three years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really wish I could do commercials for Mounjaro and they would drop the price instead of paying me,\u201d the \u201cView\u201d alum gushed. \u201cBecause when I see people struggling with obesity, I want to say I know the shame that we carry and the humiliation that is dealt to people who are overweight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSleepless in Seattle\u201d actress, 64, also looked back on <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/07\/21\/celebrity-news\/rosie-odonnell-name-drops-a-lister-who-told-her-to-lose-20-pounds\/\">feelings of pressure<\/a> when it came to body image. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I would do late night, my biggest concern wasn\u2019t my set, it was, did I look fat?\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cThe first time I did a talk show, it was\u00a0Pat Sajak\u00a0and people were saying \u2018You were so good,\u2019 and I\u2019d go, \u2018How did I look in that blazer?\u2019 I wasn\u2019t even heavy then.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure comedian, however, isn\u2019t the only celebrity to share their <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/article\/celebrities-who-used-ozempic-for-weight-loss\/\">experiences with GLP-1s<\/a> \u2014 and some have had less positive reactions.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Mayim Bialik wrote in a tell-all essay that she went on a GLP-1 drug to address various health issues and claimed she <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/05\/celebrity-news\/mayim-bialik-details-extreme-side-effects-of-glp-1-drug\/\">suffered \u201cexplosive, uncontrollable diarrhea\u201d<\/a> and \u201csneezing attacks\u201d when she tried to eat or drink.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBig Bang Theory\u201d alum also said she experienced cramping, bloating and \u201cfull-body aching.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also in June, Jenny Mollen claimed on an episode of the<a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/jenny-mollen-off-the-rails\/id1676166337?i=1000773118974\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0\u201cLet\u2019s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa\u201d podcast<\/a> that while \u201cmicrodosing\u201d a GLP-1 and \u201ctaking other peptides\u201d she experienced an increase in situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mollen also shared that <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/05\/14\/celebrity-news\/jason-biggs-and-wife-jenny-mollen-split-after-18-years-of-marriage\/\">estranged husband Jason Biggs<\/a> was \u201cscreaming like a horror movie\u201d before she fainted multiple times and ultimately was transported to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cAngel\u201d alum \u2014 who said she was <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/24\/celebrity-news\/jenny-mollen-details-horror-movie-side-effects-of-glp-1-drug-blood-everywhere\/\">taking the medication<\/a> because she has hyperthyroid and is autoimmune \u2014 ultimately wasn\u2019t sure why she experienced so much bleeding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if it was the GLP-1 necessarily,\u201d she said of the \u201charrowing\u201d experience. \u201cI think it was because I think it was messing with my hormones a little bit. I think had I stayed on it I would have been fine.
