{"id":15334,"date":"2026-07-24T04:25:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T23:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=15334"},"modified":"2026-07-24T04:25:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T23:25:08","slug":"i-feel-a-bit-stunted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=15334","title":{"rendered":"\u201cI feel a bit stunted\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sophie Thatcher has said she is ready to leave\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/series\/yellowjackets\"><i>Yellowjackets<\/i><\/a>\u00a0behind, admitting that playing teenage Natalie Scatorccio has left her feeling \u201ca bit stunted\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old actor, also known for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/films\/heretic\"><i>Heretic<\/i><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/films\/companion\"><i>Companion<\/i><\/a>, earned her breakthrough with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/brands\/paramount\">Paramount+<\/a>\u00a0survival\u00a0thriller series, which is currently shooting its fourth and final season.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/features\/sophie-thatcher-yellowjackets-ending-trump-gaza-her-private-hell-inde-navarrette-1236817823\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Variety<\/i><\/a>\u00a0this week, Thatcher\u00a0said\u00a0she had just three days of\u00a0filming\u00a0left on the\u00a0show. \u201cAnd then I\u2019m free,\u201d she\u00a0said. \u201cFreeeeeee!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether she had outgrown the show,\u00a0she\u00a0made clear that her feelings were not a criticism of its writers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI personally feel a bit stunted having to play the same character,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd I\u2019m relying on a lot of \u2013 I keep saying this, and it\u2019s not necessarily true, maybe it\u2019s just acting \u2013 cheat codes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night, filming until 6am, screaming and crying, the fact that I can get into that so fast without any\u2026 It feels less challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Yellowjackets | Season 3 Official Trailer | Paramount+ with SHOWTIME\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x8FUUxj6yOA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Thatcher continued: \u201cJust playing somebody younger is\u00a0confusing, and\u00a0staying in that place you were at when you first filmed the pilot seven years ago is a very confusing thing, and\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0what messed with me the most.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to continue to grow, but then I have to go back to where I was when I was a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson,\u00a0<i>Yellowjackets<\/i>\u00a0follows the members of a girls\u2019 high-school football team across two timelines: their\u00a019 months\u00a0stranded in the Canadian wilderness following a plane crash in 1996, and the lives of the survivors decades later. Thatcher plays the teenage Natalie, whose adult counterpart was portrayed by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/juliette-lewis\">Juliette Lewis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lyle and Nickerson\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/tv\/yellowjackets-will-end-with-season-four-3898816\">announced last October<\/a>\u00a0that season four would bring the story to its \u201ctwisted conclusion\u201d,\u00a0saying: \u201cWe\u2019ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it\u2019s our belief that our job \u2013 our responsibility \u2013 is to listen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A release date for the final season\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplus.com\/sneak-peak\/yellowjackets-season-4-everything-you-need-to-know\/\">has not yet been announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thatcher\u2019s comments mark a shift from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/tv-interviews\/sophie-thatcher-yellowjackets-interview-the-boogeyman-3447406\">when she spoke to\u00a0<i>NME<\/i>\u00a0in 2023<\/a> and said playing Natalie had \u201cfelt very natural\u201d from the beginning. Even then, however, she was consciously looking beyond the character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying to find roles that are so far from Natalie, because I want to prove myself as a chameleon and a character actor,\u201d she said at the time, joking: \u201cEverybody knows me from <i>Yellowjackets<\/i>\u2026 or from having a mullet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her latest film is\u00a0<i>Her Private Hell<\/i>, Nicolas Winding Refn\u2019s first feature in a decade. Thatcher stars as Elle, a movie star living in a neo-Tokyo high-rise as the legend of a supernatural killer known as the Leather Man closes in around her.
