Sprecher\/Evan Vucci\/AP photos)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Federal authorities want to rename New York Penn Station \u2014 and you could probably guess who for.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/07\/23\/feds-rename-penn-station-potentially-for-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obtained by<\/a> the <em>New York Daily News<\/em> on Wednesday, Department of Transportation boss <strong>Sean Duffy<\/strong> indicated he would &#8220;[d]irect Amtrak to rename New York Penn Station&#8221; as part of a list of priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The new name was not specified in the letter, but it&#8217;s no secret that Trump would like to see his name adorning the busy train hub beneath Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n<p>Back in February, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bresreports\/status\/2019544251122569636?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> demanded Sen. Minority Leader <strong>Chuck Schumer<\/strong> (D-NY) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/trump\/trump-reportedly-demanded-his-name-on-penn-station-in-exchange-for-unfreezing-tunnel-project-funds\/\">agree<\/a> to put the president&#8217;s name on Penn Station and Washington\u2019s Dulles International Airport in exchange for unfreezing $16 billion slated for a new rail tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration froze the money during a 2025 government shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>A court order later reinstated those funds, and Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/trump-insists-others-brought-up-renaming-landmark-trump-station-despite-report-he-held-up-billions-in-public-funds-to-make-it-happen\/\">denied<\/a> making any such demand in a Truth Social post.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The naming of PENN Station (I LOVE Pennsylvania, but it is a direct competitor to New York, and &#8216;eating New York\u2019s lunch!&#8217;) to TRUMP STATION, was brought up by certain politicians and construction union heads, not me &#8211; IT IS JUST MORE FAKE NEWS! NO COST OVERRUNS!!!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Any bid to change Dulles&#8217;s name is likely dead in the water, as Florida&#8217;s Palm Beach Airport <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/trump-hails-very-big-day-as-floridas-spectacular-palm-beach-airport-takes-his-name\/\">was changed<\/a> to the Donald J. Trump International Airport earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Trump hailed the Palm Beach airport name change, crowing over the newly re-christened facility <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/wow-trump-wakes-up-basking-in-glow-of-new-honor-after-going-to-bed-raging-about-assassination-plans\/\">in a Truth Social post<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow! Palm Beach has always been a special place to me. So Beautiful!!! President DONALD J.
