The former president\u2019s son mixed personal insults with complaints about how Tapper covered Joe Biden\u2019s 2024 re-election campaign.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hunter-biden-blasted-tapper-s-journalism-while-revisiting-coverage-of-his-father-s-re-election-bid\">Hunter Biden blasted Tapper\u2019s journalism while revisiting coverage of his father\u2019s re-election bid<\/h2>\n<p>Hunter Biden appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/thedonlemonshow.substack.com\/p\/hunter-biden-unfiltered-on-his-father\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Don Lemon Show<\/a> on July 22, where Don Lemon asked about his relationship with Tapper. Hunter said he had known the CNN journalist for about 25 years before delivering a harsh assessment of both his work and character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that Jake is a complete and utter a-hole,\u201d Hunter said, with the profanity censored. He also called Tapper a \u201creally poor journalist\u201d and said he did not consider him a decent person. The Hunter Biden rant grew more pointed when he compared Tapper to Brick Tamland, Steve Carell\u2019s clueless character in Anchorman.<\/p>\n<p>Much of Hunter\u2019s criticism centered on Original Sin, the 2025 book Tapper co-wrote with Axios reporter Alex Thompson. The book examined Joe Biden\u2019s age, health and unsuccessful attempt to seek another term. It also alleged that members of the former president\u2019s family and inner circle limited scrutiny of his condition.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter rejected that portrayal during the Don Lemon podcast appearance. He criticized how Tapper had discussed him, Jill Biden and Joe Biden, adding that he had no reason to offer a diplomatic response because he was \u201cnot running for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN defended Tapper after the remarks. A network spokesperson described him as a respected journalist who has challenged powerful figures regardless of party or title. The spokesperson also called Hunter\u2019s comments \u201cfrankly ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was not Hunter\u2019s first public clash with Tapper. He previously attacked the anchor over his criticism of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/2026\/06\/05\/hunter-biden-slams-jake-tapper-jill-criticism\/\">Jill Biden\u2019s memoir<\/a> and its account of Joe Biden\u2019s fitness during the 2024 campaign. Hunter has also made headlines for his unusual claim about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/2026\/07\/22\/hunter-biden-republicans-criticism-washington-dc\/\">Washington Republicans<\/a> and his comments about a possible 2028 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realitytea.com\/2026\/06\/12\/hunter-biden-2028-presidential-run-remark\/xwp_curated_content\/\">political run<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tapper has not personally responded to the latest attack. Still, CNN news coverage of the exchange has placed the pair\u2019s long-running dispute back in the spotlight.<\/p>\n<p>For Hunter, the issue appears to extend beyond one book review.
