{"id":14961,"date":"2026-07-23T19:41:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T14:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=14961"},"modified":"2026-07-23T19:41:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T14:41:29","slug":"cynthia-lummis-lauds-trumps-willingness-to-follow-ethics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=14961","title":{"rendered":"Cynthia Lummis Lauds Trump&#8217;s &#8216;Willingness&#8217; to Follow Ethics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-body\">\n<p>Senator <strong>Cynthia Lummis<\/strong> (R-WY) praised President <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> on Tuesday as having accepted unprecedented restrictions on his own financial interests in the form of a revised cryptocurrency market structure bill while rejecting Democrats critical of new ethics provisions as impossible to please.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Fox Business host <strong>Maria Bartiromo<\/strong> on Tuesday\u2019s <em>Mornings with Maria<\/em>, Lummis, who helped negotiate the updated ethics language, praised the president\u2019s \u201cwillingness\u201d to accept tougher ethics standards than any previous president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are dealing with, of course, the president\u2019s willingness to subject himself and <strong>Melania Trump<\/strong> to the most restrictive ethics language that a president has ever subjected himself to,\u201d Lummis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, of course, there is no pleasing Democrats at this point, so we are facing some headwinds,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Her comments came a day after Senate Republicans unveiled a revised, 616-page version of the CLARITY Act, an overhaul of federal cryptocurrency regulation that includes a new ethics section crafted after negotiations with the White House.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibtimes.co.uk\/us-senate-republicans-revised-clarity-act-crypto-conflicts-1810259\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revised proposal<\/a> would bar public officials and their spouses from issuing or sponsoring digital assets while in office, with violations carrying potential fines and the forfeiture of crypto-related profits.
