Connecticut son bludgeoned his father to death with a baseball bat in a vicious broad daylight attack outside their home before police shot him dead, according to horrifying police bodycam footage.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Jenkins III, 38, was seen mercilessly clubbing his victim \u2013 who was later identified as his 69-year-old father Robert Jenkins Jr. \u2013 on the front lawn of their Meriden, Conn., home on Sunday morning, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctinsider.com\/recordjournal\/article\/fatal-meriden-police-shooting-ig-report-22354090.php\">Connecticut Insider reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Offiaeli \u2014 who was the first Meriden police officer on the scene \u2014 ordered Jenkins to \u201cput the f\u2013king bat down,\u201d which he refused to do, before firing a volley of shots, the bodycam shows.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><button class=\"button button--modal-trigger\" aria-label=\"Open the image in a modal.\" police<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen he (Offiaeli) arrived, Jenkins III was bludgeoning a male, who was lying motionless on the front lawn, in the head with a baseball bat,\u201d Eliot Prescott, the Connecticut Inspector General, said in a preliminary report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficer Offiaeli ordered Jenkins III to drop the baseball bat four times, but he did not comply and continued to strike the prone male on the head with the bat.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cOfficer Offiaeli then discharged his service firearm numerous times at Jenkins III. Several rounds struck Jenkins III, who then dropped the bat and fell to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Offiaeli fired at least 18 rounds at Jenkins III. <\/p>\n<p>Jenkins III died at 11:30 p.m. that night as a result of \u201cmultiple gunshot wounds of the torso\u201d and his death was ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bodycam video released in Meriden police shooting that left two men dead\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v9O8Yhqkum8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, his father died as a result of \u201cblunt force head injuries\u201d and the manner of his death was also ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear if Offiaeli has been put on administrative leave. In Connecticut, it\u2019s common for cops involved in fatal shootings to be put on leave pending the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors were left stunned over the attack in the residential town, situated between New Haven and Hartford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know every minute of every day, but when they were in public they were respectful; they were very social,\u201d neighbor Raymond Prue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtnh.com\/news\/connecticut\/new-haven\/man-accused-of-beating-person-to-death-with-baseball-bat-dies-after-being-shot-by-meriden-police-officer\/\">told
