MANPAD (man-portable air defense system) warning at 8:27 p.m., ordering Delta flight 2604, which was bound for LGA from Detroit, to remain on the lookout.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/video\/false-rocket-launcher-report-terrifies-pilot-landing-at-laguardia-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS<\/a> News.<\/p>\n<p>The anonymous tip, which was later deemed a hoax by Port Authority police, spooked and baffled the pilot who received the transmission from LaGuardia\u2019s control tower as he was preparing to land.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>When the pilot asked the controller to explain what a MANPAD is, the tower explained it stands for \u201ca manned portable air defense system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically, it was a report of a rocket launcher,\u201d the controller added. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter
